At The Surrey, we make a conscious effort to support circularity in fashion and keep a minimal impact on the environment by only using responsibly sourced materials in our collection.

MERINO WOOL

All Surrey shirts are made with Global Merino Wool. The merino is all traceable, non mulesed and RWS certified.

Merino wool is an environmentally friendly, biodegradable, natural material. This wool’s fibers are fine and more flexible than standard wool, which gives it a gentle feel against the skin. It also helps your body maintain a comfortable temperature in any weather condition. These qualities make the material ideal for use in high performance outdoor clothing. 

THERMOREGULATION

In cold and humid weather, the pockets between merino wool fibers trap air and help retain heat. This helps you stay warm with minimal bulk.

When it’s hot, the wool helps keep the body cool by releasing humidity. The highly breathable material can absorb large quantities of moisture, holding it away from your skin before moving it away to evaporate into the air. This wool is also fast drying and contains odor resistant and antibacterial properties.

RENEWABILITY

Sheep produce a new fleece each year, making merino wool a naturally renewable fiber. It is also 100% biodegradable. Studies have found that in ideal conditions (warm, damp soil combined with access to oxygen), merino wool can lose up to 99% of its mass after nine months of burial in soil.

All of The Surrey’s garments are designed in-house at our Malibu studio and manufactured in Los Angeles. This helps us ensure our production partners are adhering to ethical standards as well as avoids the shipping-related environmental impact created by offshore production.

3D KNITTING

Our textiles and custom leather belts and neck gaiters are created with 3D knitting technology that utilizes recycled material. This dramatically reduces waste by giving us the flexibility to produce product as it is ordered. That means no leftover fabric scraps, as well as dramatically reduced resource use.

Packaging and Shipping

Our mailers are 100% compostable and all the paper used in our packaging is FSC certified. This ensures that the paper products we use come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.

To help minimize the impact of commercial shipping, we have partnered with a third-party service that helps fund carbon offset or carbon removal projects.
